Starship have paid tribute to their guitarist Mark Abrahamian after he died suddenly following a concert two night ago.

Abrahamian died after suffering a heart attack following a performance in Norfolk, Nebraska,  Sunday night. They reportedly went back to his dressing room after the show and collapsed, and he was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.

"We are all shocked and saddened at the sudden loss of our guitar player Mark Abrahamian. Mark was a kind, thoughtful and innovative soul. He was also a friend and family member. Mark also happened to be one hell of a guitar player. We are devastated by the loss of our brother and just dealing with it the best we can."

He had been a member of the rock outfit since 2000, and had appeared at hundreds of gigs.   Abrahamian joined Starship—whose hits include "We Built This City" and "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now"—11 years ago.

He began playing guitar at age 10, and was inspired to hone his skills by Kiss axeman Ace Frehley and iconic shredder Eddie Van Halen.
Mark said: “I went home and didn't leave my room until the Ninth Grade”.
His dedication paid off, as he had a career that saw him play with the likes of Rainbow's Joe Lynn Turner, Survivor's Jimmi Jameson and Cliff Williams of ACDC and Pat Travers.

He was also a graduate of The Musicians Institute, and worked for many years as a guitar teacher.
