13/03/23, Santo Domingo
We’ve been invited to the Design Week of Dominican Republic, 2023 edition, to represent and to shine a bright light on Italian Culture.
Santo Domingo is the oldest city of the Caribbean. The Colonial Zone is a historical and artistic diamond infused by Spanish Architecture. The Casa de Italia, where the first Dominican Republic President lived, is reminiscent of Italian Renaissance Architecture thanks to the terrace that overlooks a patio adorned with classical arches.
Following the example of Milan, the 13rd of March 2023 sees the Design Week of Dominican Republic begin in the Colonial Zone with the conclusion on the 19th of the month.
The Dominican Republic is known for its creativity, magnificent colours and its art&craft. The DWRD is an opportunity to engage also in Technical Design that involves the whole field: from Interior Design to Jewellery Design and much more.
The opening of the Design Week has occurred at the Casa de Italia with the collaboration of CERARTE, ALTRITEMPI, IBI NAUTICA under the aegis of the Italian Ambassy in Santo Domingo because the inspiration of this event comes from Italian manufacture not only for Art and Design but also for the ability of Italians to make possible the impossible. The goal: create new enterprises following new technologies with a low environmental impact.
Part of CERARTE’s participation is visible on the installations at the centre of the Casa de Italia’s patio: a space full of art and design curated by Rosangela Viro, from NHAP STUDIO.
In the inside rooms at the ground floor, an exhibition curated by Yudelka Checo, from ALTRITEMPI, that is connected to the work of CERARTE: a complete and successful conjunction for demonstrating the Dominican commitment and the ability to be as good as Italy.
The name of the exposition is: ITALIA INDUSTRIA IMPOSIBLE (Italia impossible industry) due to Italian’s capacity of building the impossible which is also the case in the Dominican Republic.
On the first floor near the famous Cappuccino Restaurant where the event’s gala dinner took place, is an exhibition of different IBI NAUTICA boats models. IBI Nautica is a proud sponsor of this event bringing the Made in Italy tag abroad and making it possible here in the Dominican Republican.
The event is honored to have the presences of
Jorge Brown, Design Week’s CEO and a renowned designer
Ito Bosonò, Minster of Industry, Trade and MSME;
Licia Colombo, representing Com.It.Es.;
Diego Fernandez, the honorary consul of the East Zone of the Country;
Caterina Licitra, CO-founder and CCO of The Lux Room and niece of the famous Italian architect Gio Ponti;
Rossana Rive, star of the event, director of Listin Diario and editor of Ritmo Socialdo.
In coming months Renaissance Evolution will open a local headquarters to support this fabulous Italy-Caribbean partnership and invite you to join our organization!
For info you can visit Renevo.org o you can write us on press@renevo.org to the attention of Caterina.
A special thanks go to the Italian Ambassy in Santo Domingo, the Ambassador Stefano Queirolo Palmas and his assistant Anna Cristina, without them all of this couldn’t be possible.
