Maria Sharapova vs. Simona Halep: It'll be one of the most highly anticipated first-round matches at the US Open in recent memory when 2006 US Open champion, a wild card into this year's event, takes on No. 2 seed Simona Halep in the first match of the evening session of Arthur Ashe Stadium. Sharapova owns a 6-0 career head-to-head advantage over Halep but has sturggled with injuries all summer, while the Romanian is coming off a run to the final at the US Open Series event in Cincinnati.
