Locust Talks lecture series hosts visiting curators from innovative institutions across the country and internationally for public lectures at the gallery space followed by individual studio visits with local artists, fostering a rigorous critical dialogue about art in the community.

Opportunity: Locust Talks Studio Visit
Details: Locust Projects is pleased to announce an open call to South Florida artists for a chance to participate in a one-on-one studio visit with an internationally renowned curator or exhibition space director.
Deadline: January 7, 2013 – applications must be received by 5pm
Opportunity Description: In 2013 Locust Projects will celebrate its 15th Anniversary as an experimental exhibition space with a mission to serve artists and the community. To mark this milestone we will inaugurate Locust Talks, a new lecture series that brings visiting curators and directors from innovative institutions across the country and internationally. Each art professional will give a public lecture at our gallery space in Miami’s Design District, followed by individual studio visits with local artists. Curators and directors from diverse institutions across the country will talk about topics impacting artists and their communities, fostering a rigorous critical dialogue and deepening Miami’s connection to the contemporary art world.
In conjunction with each talk, artists are invited to apply for a studio visit with the lecturer.
Artist Application instructions
1 - Artist resume or CV. Please include contact information (name, address, phone, email).
2 - Description of your studio practice. 250 words or less.
3 - 8 images of recent / related artwork. Images should be submitted in jpeg format, 72 dpi.
4 - Caption list for images.
5 - Please specify your ideal studio visit art professional by listing the name of visiting lecturer in order of preference: Anne Pasternak, Laurie Firstenberg, Fairfax Dorn.
