HOMI continues along the research path. The Lifestyles Show just ended in Fiera Milano is a hub for professionals when it comes to the most innovative offerings in objects and accessories for the home and the individual. Along with the 1,460 Exhibitors (25% of whom come from abroad) distributed throughout more than 50,000 square meters, there were many initiatives and events featured that aim to highlight new designers and the most original style ideas.
For HOMI, style is a lively experience that is showcased with a rich, evocative series of areas that are able to tell about the evolution of elegance in the environments where we live every day and about the changes and ever intriguing mix of different aesthetics in the accessories we wear. Thus, HOMI aims to be a tableau of ideas and product innovations that anticipate the trends for professionals from Italy and abroad. In this edition, there was a special focus on experimentation, with products that are the result of research along with emerging designers and curious innovations that are destined to change our daily habits.
During my visit I found many ideas on how to live to the fullest in our domestic environments with the Living Habits and Home Textiles areas as well as the many dimensions of beauty in the Fashion & Jewels area; then there are the new trends born of the evolution of design in the digital area – the new HOMI Smart space is dedicated to this trend. There are also to be essences and fragrances but not too many from Italy, solutions for environments dedicated to children, spaces meant for showcasing the beauty of food and its packaging, as well as spaces that put the focus on wellness.
HOMI included Artex, the Centre for Artistic and Traditional Craftsmanship from Tuscany, Art, the association of table arts and gifts, Anima, the Federation of National Associations of Mechanical and Engineering Industries. HOMI also supported the “Design Competition – Creatività3“ initiative promoted by the Lombardy Region in collaboration with Unioncamere Lombardia, ADI – the Association for Industrial Design, which matches young designers (under 35) with small-to-mid-sized manufacturing companies in Lombardy. From Milan to the world and back. HOMI is style as it evolves, continues and never stops. Hopefully there will be less madeinChina next year.
I'm ready for my next stop: #FashionWeek I Milan this time of the year.
