Headteacher Christine Parker, pictured with some of her pupils, has driven up standards at Gladstone Primary School in Peterborough, where children speak 20 languages. All 440 pupils have English as a second language but despite the language barrier, the school has made massive strides in performance and is rated by Ofsted as "good".
