Across the Wire:
Rai chooses the browser that lets kids safe-surf, MimiHua

MimiHua is a web browser that enables children, between the ages of 3 and 12, to surf safely.

RAINET S.p.A. launched a strategic partnership introducing MimiHua, an innovative browser designed to give children a secure and curated way to explore the web. The solution, customized for Rai YoYo, was officially presented during the Cartoons on the Bay international event.

MimiHua is a dedicated web environment for children aged 3 to 12, created to transform how young users interact with the internet. Rather than exposing them to the open web, MimiHua allows children to browse and search exclusively within a protected ecosystem of RAI-approved and verified content—ensuring a safe, age-appropriate, and engaging experience. At the same time, it provides parents with confidence and control over their children’s digital journey.

The creation of MimiHua responds to a clear and urgent reality:

  • Nearly half of children (46.6%) access the internet from their own rooms
  • 22% spend between one and four hours online daily

Yet alongside this growing independence:

  • 24.9% report encountering inappropriate or disturbing images
  • 20.5% have experienced unwanted interactions with adults in chats
  • 13% admit visiting platforms not suitable for their age, including social networks
  • 68.6% navigate the internet without parental supervision

Within this context, MimiHua introduces a new standard: a digital gateway designed specifically for children—where exploration is guided, content is trusted, and the experience remains both safe and inspiring.

Starting in April, MimiHua became available for download in Italy through raiyoyo.it, extending RAI’s public service mission into the digital space. Through this initiative, RAI reinforces its role in supporting families by offering a secure online environment tailored to younger audiences.

Roberto Masiero, CEO of Bee Technology Group, stated:

“This collaboration with RAI represents part of a broader vision—one that goes beyond a single product. Our goal is to equip leading media organizations with advanced multimedia solutions that support their evolution and growth.

MimiHua stands out within our portfolio as a uniquely adaptable platform, capable of being tailored to the identity and needs of each partner.

The collaboration with RAI has been particularly strong, built on shared capabilities and aligned objectives. Together, we have created a solution specifically designed for Italian children. Working alongside a partner like RAI enhances both the reach and the impact of what we are building.”
