As always, the New York City Marathon proved to be a big party despite the numerous and extensive security checks after the attack in the Boston Marathon.

The competitors were kicked off in 48 thousand, many wore a blue band in memory of the victims of the Boston Marathon.

We recall that last year N.Y. Marathon has not held due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy.

The competition was won by Kenyan Geoffrey Mutai, who repeated his success in 2011. Among women won the Kenyan Priscah Jeptoo, vice-Olympic champion. The fifth was Italian Straneo, silver at the World Championships in Moscow last August.
