A special Macef in Italy

After the summer pause, Fiera Milano (Italy) started again on 12 September with the 95th Macef.

In addition to the four theme sectors at the show – Tableware & Kitchenware, Home Decor, Gifts and Bijoux -  there were also  the other regular features, including L’Opera Italiana, where tradition was the buzzword with stories of artisan lives told by companies through their best products. There were also  plenty of special debut areas.

A Meeting Place, one of the new entries,  opened  a sector that reveals to retail the secrets behind the most original and attractive store, with a view to meeting the needs of an increasingly better informed, more aware clientele (pavilion 15).

While in pavilion 13 there were  the special Opere d’arti area, entirely dedicated to art galleries and artists, showcasing works and competences for enhancing architecture and furnishings. The aim was to create dialogue between art and design and offer the market an integrated service, from articles for the home to furnishings and art. 

There were also  a space set aside for young jewellery designers, Bijoux Design at Macef Bijoux. This were house a range of unique creations, with special focus on young artists and their new ideas.

Design, research and innovation also provided energy for the Creazioni project, one of the most popular sectors at the Show.  This was an exclusive selection of objects that translate an innovative, on-trend soul for an audience of sector operators whose job it is to study products with original shapes and production processes. 

Creazioni Lab was its special featured section dedicated to the world of costume jewellery: a true workshop of articles based on the fusion of noble and simple materials, from lace to inner tubes, washing-up sponges to illustrated postcards.

Emphasis continued on environmental sustainability, with the fourth Stories of Sustainability. It were selected some significant examples of the different ways of tackling environmental problems, the aim being to provide new design and production behaviour models for the world of distribution.

Meanwhile, Home Garden was housed in pavilion 24, reserved for a selection of ideas that reach right across the board of outdoor furniture, accessories and design.  It was featured the main themes of Outdoor Living, from the most glamorous layouts to solutions for shade and large-scale supply, right through to a cultural analysis of young outdoor designers.
